The ADHS
Alumni Student Bursary
One of the
goals of the ADHS Alumni Association has been to establish a
bursary at Almonte High School to be
presented to two students when they graduate.
This goal was realized in June 2010 when we presented the first two $500
ADHS Alumni Association bursaries to
two deserving students at the June 2010 Commencement
ceremony. The recipients were Steven Dowker and Kaila
McCormick.
This year, we presented two bursaries on June 29 at the 2011 Commencement
ceremony to Ashley Millar and Erin
Milton.
The criteria for the bursary is simple. It is presented to two graduates
in good standing who are
continuing their
education at a post secondary institution.
At this time the money being presented to the students comes from the
capital in the Bursary fund. We are
hoping to build the Bursary Fund to a point where it will
sustain itself so the money presented to students comes
from the interest on the account.
This is where we are appealing to you, the alumni of ADHS, to help build
the the ADHS Alumni Bursary Fund.
The ADHS Alumni Association is not classified as a charitable
organization so we cannot issue tax receipts for
donations. However, the high school and the Upper Canada
District School Board have the ability to issue tax
receipts. Through them the ADHSAA has established the
bursary fund account where tax deductible donations can be
made.
